The Alchemy of Voice: A Doorway to Connection

Co-directed by Lisa Ishwari Murphy & Marcelle Gauvin

Since ancient times, mystics have understood the vibratory power of speech, sound, and song, holding voice as the most sacred of all instruments. In this workshop, Lisa Ishwari Murphy and Marcelle Saraswati Gauvin combine their gifts guiding a three-part musical journey for self-healing, creative expression and consciousness awakening. By using singing and songwriting as tools, participants begin to visualize the freest, most enlivened version of themselves and come to understand what supports this vision or hinders it. From this knowledge, three song cycles are created, each designed to “alchemize” an aspect of this journey toward self-actualization.

In this concentration, each participant will create three songs implementing a specific formula to refine and master in their musical journey. Artists will perform to transform, learning a repeatable, intentional process in which an inspired idea transmutes itself from a formless state to a musical expression. Participants will be given the option to complete this process at their own pace, each song requiring three sessions to seed, alchemize and emerge. For certification from the Sva Ha Academy, all three songs must be completed culminating in the final presentation of a unified song cycle. This entire process will be supported by the Song Pod, a safe, judgment-free community made up of like-minded artists. Pod consciousness knows the success of one magnifies the success of the group. A community of One-ness is formed, a community that amplifies its own alchemy.

Lisa Ishwari Murphy, Director of the Synergy of Sound and originator of Sva Ha Yoga and Marcelle Saraswati Gauvin, Voice Retraining Specialist, Associate Professor of Voice at Berklee College of Music and Senior faculty member at the Shenandoah Conservatory’s Contemporary Commercial Music Institute join together in facilitating this unique workshop. Lisa is considered a master sound healer with over 30 years of experience and carries the wisdom of many indigenous tribal elders. Marcelle also carries 30 plus years of musical expertise with her as a performing artist and a teacher. Together they hold the intent of creating Hanaqpacha (Heaven on Earth) for all.

“The heart listens to the soul then voice shares the song.”  Marcelle Saraswati Gauvin

Marcelle is a recognized expert in vocal function, a performing artist, and a student of Energy Medicine, who has studied with Lisa for the past eight years. She carries her experience as a voice retraining specialist as well as her research into yogic mantra and the music of earth-based cultures to deepen her understanding of the human voice‘s workings, dynamics and nuances. During the workshop, she will help participants develop their unique vocal colors while expanding emerging musical ideas. Any physical, psychological, or emotional obstacles that arise during the artistic process are identified and alchemized through song and musically driven storytelling begins. The artist becomes free to experiment, explore, and remember.

“Any alchemist knows that one cannot do anything without the support of everything”  Lisa Ishwari Murphy

Lisa, as an initiated mesa carrier in the Peruvian Q’ero tradition, will use mesa work to help participants free blockages and belief systems that stifle their creative process. Because singing and song are powerful vibrational tools, Lisa, through her mastery of Energy Medicine and Natural Law, will share a formula that connects participants to a field of pure, creative potentiality. As participants learn to listen in a new way, the music within them emerges, helping them to remember who they truly are. This process opens self-expression and accelerates healing allowing inner gifts that once were buried or veiled to come into light.
