In 2013, Neil participated in one yoga class at a Crossfit gym, and felt like he’d been called home. He decided very soon after to be come a yoga teacher. He completed his 200-hour training at Power Yoga of Cape Cod, based on the Baron Baptiste Method of Power Yoga.

In 2014 Neil met a yoga teacher named Andrea, and really liked the bowl she used at the end of class. Andrea guided Neil to Lisa Ishwari Murphy of Fairhaven Healing Arts Center. Through training with Lisa, he has earned certifications in Beginner Energy Medicine, Advanced Energy Medicine, and Sva Ha Yoga 500 hour YTT. Neil and Andrea opened Power and Grace Yoga in January 2019, and were married in February 2022. They are now co-directors of the Sva Ha Yoga 200 hour Teacher Training Program offered at Power and Grace Yoga. Neil continues to learn and transform through Sva Ha Yoga and the Synergy of Sound Training Academy.

Neil loves to sing, and learned how to play the harmonium with a how to video by Kirtan Walla Krishna Das. He’ll often serenade durning Savasana. Neil’s classes always have a theme, a teaching, or a story. Staying rooted and connected he receives wisdom as to what the class needs. His classes invite you to move in unique ways, matching movement to the soundtrack of his recorded music. Neil loves to honor his Azorian Portuguese heritage. Annually his Feast class is one of his favorites to teach. Acro Yoga is a passion of his. Finding connection, trust, and transcendence of limiting beliefs.

Neil finds joy organizing yoga retreats, and intentional group travel. He’s facilitated retreats in Costa Rica and the Azores, Portugal. Locally you will find him coordinating events like Yoga Flash Mobs, and field trips to kirtan concerts.

Neil works full time as a Superintendent at a commercial construction company in downtown Boston. He brings all he’s learned to work with him, and holds space for a noticeably more peaceful job-site. He knows can find rhythm, connection, and harmony within our yoga practice, and transform the world around us.
